Welcome to the RDOS Energy Hub

The RDOS is a signatory to the B.C. Climate Action Charter and works with municipal partners to reduce emissions and strengthen community resilience.

The RDOS Energy Hub provides information on local energy and climate initiatives across the Okanagan-Similkameen region. This site highlights RDOS projects and programs, available rebates and incentives, and practical resources to support residents, businesses, and local governments.

You will find information on energy efficiency, transportation, building standards, and community programs, as well as a library of tools and guides to help understand energy use and climate action in the region.

1. Mid-Construction Blower Door Testing Session - January 2026

A Free training session on mid-construction blower door testing will be held on January 15, 2026 (5–7 PM PST). The session will introduce the importance of early air-tightness testing and how it can help reduce rework and support builders in meeting energy-efficiency requirements.

2. New Public EV Chargers Now Operating in Naramata and Okanagan Falls - November 2025

Residents and visitors can now access new public EV charging stations installed by the RDOS. These additions expand the regional charging network and improve support for electric transportation across rural communities.

  • Manitou Park, Naramata
    • Two Level 2 chargers are now operational and open for public use.
  • Okanagan Falls Visitor Centre (1109 Willow St)
    • Two Level 3 fast chargers have been commissioned, offering significantly faster charging for drivers travelling through the area.

Why this matters: These new stations improve charging convenience, support low-emission travel, and contribute to long-term regional climate and transportation goals.

3. Rebates Available for FortisBC Residential Customers - August 2025

FortisBC offers a wide range of rebates to help households save energy and reduce utility costs. Eligible residential gas and electricity customers can access incentives for appliance maintenance, efficient washers and dryers, smart thermostats, heating and cooling equipment, EV charging stations, home energy evaluations, insulation upgrades, and efficient windows and doors.

Rebate amounts and eligibility requirements vary by product, income requirements and home type.

4. New Rebates for Heat Pumps in Condos and Apartments - July 2025

Income-qualified renters and condo owners in B.C. may now access up to $8,500 in rebates through the CleanBC Energy Savings Program to install a high-efficiency heat pump or heat pump water heater. The program supports residents living in eligible low-rise apartments, stacked townhomes, and multiplex buildings that are primarily heated by electricity.

Upgrades must be completed by a registered contractor, and rebates vary by household income level. Applicants must pre-register and receive an eligibility code before starting any work
