Electric Vehicle Outreach and Awareness
n 2023, in partnership with Emotive BC, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) carried out an electric vehicle outreach and awareness campaign in nine small communities: Osoyoos Rural, Cawston, Oliver Rural, Skaha East & Okanagan Falls, Naramata, Okanagan Lake West/West Bench, Keremeos Rural/Hedley, Princeton Rural and Skaha West/Kaleden/Apex. Each outreach event was held in conjunction with a local event -- for example the Keremeos event happened at the Hot Peppers Festival. In total the events reached more than 1300 people.
Participants took a survey asking them about their opinions on EVs and materials on purchasing and driving an EV were distributed. School children were invited to participate in a contest to design decals for the RDOS’s Electric Ford E-Transit and the top three designs were used to create a design for the electric Ford E transit van.
