Currently the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Sustainability Services is designing a program to support home energy retrofits. To create the most useful program the RDOS carried out a home energy retrofit survey at the 2024 Penticton Home and Reno Show. The survey covered homeowner needs and barriers related to home energy efficiency upgrades. The survey included questions about participants' homes including questions about primary heating and cooling and water heating. The survey also included questions about planned improvements and what factors motivate homeowners. One important aspect of the survey was what kind of experience homeowners had working with supporting organizations such as the CleanBC Better Homes and Home Renovation Rebate Program and the Canada Greener Homes Loans. The RDOS is now evaluating the surveys and will use them to create a program promoting home energy retrofits.
